Honest and appropriate disclosure of unanticipated outcomes is your best defense when an adverse event occurs. As every physician who has faced a patient or family member after something has taken an unanticipated turn, the sinking feeling you experience can hinder your ability to talk openly and constructively. Here we'll deal with the best ways to address that communication and document your efforts. This CME offering provides common sense real world suggestions and guidelines which will help you communicate effectively so that the patient can better cope with the outcome and potentially improve the patient's level of trust in your care. (Please note: CME credit for this test can only be given to our insureds)
