
At the conclusion of this activity physicians should be able to:
- Outline current recommendations for DVT prophylaxis in the hospitalized medical patient.
- Outline current recommendations for DVT prophylaxis in the hospitalized surgical patient
- Discuss measures that should be instituted in all hospital admissions to reduce the risk of VTE.
- Describe appropriate pharmacologic VTE prophylaxis monitoring systems.
- Describe the established contraindications for pharmacologic VTE prophylaxis.
